Oh, I missed that federated.press shut down. That was a place for journalism in the #Fediverse and there were multiple accounts for my @MediaOnMastodon on there. They are mostly gone now, it seems.

Does that mean, that my list of official (!) and verified (!) accounts of #media organizations on #Mastodon has begun to shrink? 😔

I'm in dire need of: #fediverse #support.
Who can help with an #etsyshop? My wife has been trying to open one for days, but always fails, due to the required identification process by #Persona. Of course, We followed all the instructions carefully and tried it with various browsers and devices, always with the same result: "identification is not possible" but not why. Support requests were always rejected with the same text blocks. Does anyone know this and has a solution?

Very interesting preprint by @pettertornberg comparing the language indicators for content sharing on different social media platforms. On Mastodon (not sure how much content from the wider Fediverse was included), reasoning and nuance were most strongly associated with boosting. On X, insult, identity attack, and toxicity are rewarded instead. Bluesky doesn't seem to have particularly strong language indicators for sharing content.

I have bridged with BlueSky.

About once a week the bridging system sends me a link to a post from people on BlueSky im response to one of my posts.

I can click the link to see their response on BlueSky, in a browser, but I don't have a BlueSky account, so cannot ⭐ or reply to them.

The bridging system's notice has instructions that are unclear to me. Can't I at least ⭐ from Mastodon, through the BlueSky bridge? What am I missing?

I love ol' Gilbert Keith Chesterton, I really do, but every now and again some fragment of racist refuse bobs to the surface of his writing and you're painfully reminded of how very British is Gil Chesterton. The wogs very might well begin at Calais with him, despite his professed love for Jeanne d'Arc—is it she whom Chesterton loved or the frail fleeting idol of La Pucelle d'Orleans? On Judaism and Islam he's unspeakable and he's condescending to the "Oriental" stereotype he describes of sleepy, decadent, stagnant intellects.

He makes much of the fact that images of the Buddha often show his eyes closed in meditation, something which folks perhaps ought to do more of in their own ways, casting aside unnecessary worries about being "authentic". Chesterton says it's better that Christian martyrs went to their deaths with eyes wide open, not shutting their eyes to the world.

Like you'd KNOW, Chesterton.

A frustrating footnote to the #salsaonstclair shooting:

I know this is minor compare to the loss of human life, but the Toronto Police’s sole reliance on Twitter for disseminating emergency messages is simultaneously galling, frustration and dangerous.

I live one block away from the festival, and trying to find out if it was safe for a friend to walk home last night. Google helpfully informs me that the police had locked down the area. But what streets?
