I've been on the fence about hosting my own #fediverse account for a while now, mainly because of the insane hardware requirements.

I've considered pleroma/akkoma for a while, but i don't know the first thing about elixir and their docs are not the most clear. I've been really tempted by #GoToSocial, but #snac's easy install & general simplicity made me take the plunge.

Thanks to @nlnet we made a proposal to expand the RSS protocol. Seems like @musicbrainz schema (mmd) is the perfect candidate for this. It allows to send complex nested objects in rss.

This opens the #fediverse to any artist who wants to publish their content through rss rather than #activitypub. Subscribing to the rss feed in Funkwhale will create an activity pub actor for the artist and audio activities from the feed items !
