This is what i love about the #fediverse . Pop science “we have found a new planet!” Turns into an exam question for a graduate level astrophysics test. I barely follow what’s being said, because the people saying it have probably forgotten more math than I ever learned. But I’m following a little and enjoying it immensely.

Still zero dollars out of four hundred. It's been like that for days and days, not one thin dime coming in. Why is that? Seriously, what's going on here? Are #fediverse readers simply deciding that certain #begpost requests are skippable, or what? Are people put off by the begging? I've been trying for days with no luck, and I don't have anything in the apartment that's safe for me to eat right now, and I still have a couple of days before I get my EBT. I also need to pay my storage unit and do a cat food/cat litter order. Please? This release brings finer privacy controls, local visibility, commutes, a major federation rewrite, improved profiles, verified email changes, durable email delivery, and a much more capable admin area for users, federation queues, logs, diagnostics, and monitoring.

It also includes extensive reliability, security, performance, and UX improvements.

This week has felt like being stretched thin between hope and heaviness, a kind of ache under the skin that refuses to be smoothed over. Scrolling through timelines and hashtags has been more like wandering in unfamiliar streets than finding a home, a restless motion through spaces that don’t quite know what to do with people like me. Every platform promises connection, yet so many conversations skate across the surface, too fast and polished for the slower, tangled reality of neurodivergent and disabled lives.

Community keeps tugging at my thoughts, demanding a deeper definition than follower counts, boosts or reach. Connection becomes real when someone else carries similar static in their head and is trying to carve out something gentler for themselves and others, without pretending it’s easy. Timelines feel different when posts about neurodiversity and disability emerge from lived experience rather than from branding or performance. Some days, those posts light up my screen and remind me that others are fighting the same internal battles. Other days, it feels like standing in a noisy room where our existence is discussed like a topic, not honoured as a lived reality.

Labour has become impossible to ignore. Emotional labour. Cognitive labour. Sensory labour. Curating feeds to protect fragile nervous systems, blocking harm before it embeds, tracking subtle ableism in replies and boosts, choosing between educating yet again and guarding limited energy. Social media carries a quiet toll when you are the one translating your experience into digestible fragments so others don’t turn away. That toll rarely appears in cheerful posts about community, but it weighs on the people whose identities are constantly explained and defended.

Under all the frustration, a tender strand keeps me from walking away. Care, stubborn and inconvenient, threads through everything. Care for strangers who cling to timelines because offline life hurts too much. Care for the possibility that one honest post about burnout, sensory overload, or faith in crisis might reach someone on a night when they’re wondering if they can keep going. Care for the dream that we are slowly cobbling together spaces where neurodivergent and disabled people don’t have to sand off their edges to be tolerated.

Resolution doesn’t appear, and maybe that’s honest. Exhaustion is real, yet presence continues. New platforms and instances are tested, different timelines explored, not out of a desire for novelty but out of a longing for places that can hold the complexity of living at the intersections of neurodivergence, disability, and spiritual fatigue. Quiet, uncompromising voices keep posting from the margins, refusing to dilute their truth to fit a neat narrative. Effort from those voices matters, even when algorithms barely notice. Void or no void, scattered or gathered, the fact that we keep speaking from these edges means our lives are more than background noise, and that conviction alone keeps me here.

Is there already an Internet Resiliency Club in #Berlin? I'm aware of #Freifunk and its established work. This seems broader and complementary: a group for practical experiments with mesh networks, offline communication, local services, and other ways to make communication more resilient.

I suspect there are already people working on these ideas in Berlin, so I thought I'd ask here on the #Fediverse. I'll also reach out on nebenan.de to see if there's any local interest.

#Fediverse is a *social* network, right? About being different from corporate anti-social media. Has ambitions to be more diverse, inclusive, cohesive. To provide inter-community social networking where people with similar interests find each other and interact.

Like the #ActivityPub developer community, for instance. The group of people who make all this possible in the first place. Together they uphold the fediverse technology ecosystem and are collectively responsible for evolving it. They chose fediverse as their communication medium, dogfooding their creations, even though this comes with its disadvantages. #Microblogging is ephemeral and fleety and discussions are dispersed and fragmented. There are clear points of improvements for the #fedi, frequently discussed.

What's very odd is that most AP devs hardly:

1. Engage with other AP devs posts.
2. Boost each other's msgs for visibility.
3. Use hashtags for discoverability.

Low-hanging fruit for improvement?
